So---Art & Soul has officially gotten too big for its current environs!  Don't get me wrong; this is a GOOD problem to have.  The crowd on Sunday was amazingly cheerful, given the long lines for tickets, food, beer, etc.  It was just about impossible to get close enough to the Main Stage to see Tony! Toni! Tone!, En Vogue, and Sheila E.

Luckily, I wasn't trying, because that was the time that some of my campaign team and I were passing out literature and talking to voters!  Art & Soul is such a great event---so many people attend, from all over the Bay Area and beyond.  You'll see city councilmembers, county supervisors, your neighbors, and people you used to know but haven't seen for a long time.  They all come to Art & Soul.

But about the crowdedness---they need to either rig up larger stages, or somehow raise the stages so people can see better.  The Main Stage is just not big enough for the name acts that the festival is drawing these days!  Again, it's a good problem to have.  Events like Art & Soul show us so much that is good about Oakland:  the diversity; the talent; the food; the people.  Love it.  Can't wait 'til next year!  The campaign will be over by then...
