San Leandro Sausage & Suds Festival

I attended the fabulous Sausage & Suds Festival in downtown San Leandro on October 3!  Sausage & Suds is a fun, local festival.  The weather was great, and there were a number of bands who provided entertainment all day long.  To the left is a photo of headliner Lydia Pense (remember Cold Blood, from back in the day?).   Below is a picture of the cover band, Spazmatics, and below that, a photo of Delta Wires.   There were lots of other acts, but these are the 3  that I managed to take a quick picture of, in between talking to folks.

Alameda County Labor Day Picnic

Picture
The Alameda Labor Day Picnic was well-attended, and the weather was absolutely perfect.  There were many information booths, representing organizations (Kaiser; California State Automobile Association; California Federation of Teachers) as well as candidates.   There were also a number of candidates walking around, representing themselves  I spoke to quite a few candidates, and then I went to listen to the speakers.

A partial list of the speakers included: Josie Camacho, Acting Secretary-Treasurer for the Alameda Labor Council; Congresswoman Barbara Lee; Congressman Jerry McNerney; Claudia Hudson, President ATU 192; Attorney General Jerry Brown; Assemblyman Sandre Swanson, and Sergio Santos, President UAW 2244.  More pictures of BBQ participants are on my Blog page.

Lenny Williams (former lead singer for Tower of Power) & band at the Art & Soul Festival

Picture
The Blues & Gospel stage was the mellowest place to see music at Art & Soul.  I wandered over to watch Lenny, and was amazed that I could get very close to the stage.  The people trying to see En Vogue and Sheila E. had a tougher time of it!

Oakland's beautiful Cathedral Building on a beautiful Sunday

Picture
This is one of my favorite buildings in downtown Oakland.  On a beautiful sunny day, the Cathedral Building almost shimmers!

I took this picture after an afternoon at Oakland's Art & Soul Festival in downtown Oakland.  The weather could not have been nicer---perfect for Art & Soul, and perfect for talking to people!
